Throughout the pandemic, Gemini Urgent Care continued to serve local families. We are pleased to provide rapid PCR testing for COVID-19 seven days a week at our physician-led urgent care center, so you can easily get the answers you need to protect your health and the health of those around you.
WHAT PCR TESTING IS OFFERED?
- For COVID-19 evaluation and diagnosis, we offer the DASH PCR, Biofire PCR, and Spotfire PCR test. This is used for acute illness to help determine the specific cause and tests for different viruses, including influenza, RSV, Rhinovirus, among others.
Our Houston rapid PCR test is unique in that it is one of the fastest methods in detecting harmful pathogens. This instrument uses state-of-the-art polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing which extracts and detects viral and bacterial RNA proteins from nasopharyngeal samples (nasal swab), and this is an extremely sensitive and specific test (over 97% accurate). Put simply, it detects the illness much sooner than a rapid test and has much less false negative rates.

WHY DOES EARLY DIAGNOSIS MATTER?
- There are certain antiviral treatments like Tamiflu, Xoflua, or Paxlovid which are most effective when started within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms
- If you plan to be around family members who are at risk, such as the very young or the very old, or if you yourself have medical issues, antiviral therapy can significantly reduce symptoms and speed up recovery.
HOW DO WE INTERPRET RESULTS?
All results will be seen by our providers and physicians to determine the best action plan for your results.
PCR testing will come out with two types of results, including:
- Negative – A negative test results translates to zero findings or evidence the virus DNA or RNA is present.
- Positive – If your test comes back positive, this indicates the virus DNA or RNA is present

Thank you for taking such great care of me on my recent visit. I have never been to the emergency room for pain. It was scary. I probably wasn’t the easiest patient yet felt well cared for and nobody made me feel like a crazy lady for showing up in the middle of the night in my PJs and robe. Hopefully, I do not have to do such a thing again but if so I’ll be more comfortable knowing that I’ll be in good hands.

The staff was really nice. Great customer service I got in and out within an hour. Dr. J. Jackson came in to do his assignment and gave me what I needed and I was able to be on my way. The rest of the staff was real nice I filled out my paper and they help with questions. The assistant told me what I needed to do and it got done he was very efficient. I had a great experience. From when you walk in they are extremely welcoming and friendly. I went in with intense pain and they did everything to make me feel comfortable and find a solution. I had an amazing nurse named Moses who was extremely kind and helpful. The doctor was quick to respond, very kind and informative This is by far the best experience I've encountered. Definitely recommend their services.

I went in today for a bad migraine. It was around 6:30 am and no other patients. I was greeted and taken back. They got me started on some meds. The dr came in and was friendly and quick. He didn't ask me 100 questions to get to the point. He gave me something to relieve the problem and a prescription. I didn't have to ask for a work note he automatically wrote one out. The staff was very clear on instructions and what they were going to do. Felt better, checked out, and paid. It was fast and convenient since my dr doesn't open till 8 and hope to get in the same day. I'd go back. The staff asked the main questions needed, Before giving me meds asked if I had a ride or by myself. which makes a huge difference with migraine medicine. In and out in 2 hours.
