Protect Your Children From The Back To School Germs

Your kids are heading back to school this month, and with hundreds or thousands of kids in one building, germs are inevitable! But if you keep your child healthy, a few germs may not be that big of a deal. You can keep your children healthy by focusing on a few important life changes.

You can keep your child healthy by making sure they have a strong immune system. Strengthen your child’s immune system by keeping your child active with daily exercise, plenty of sleep, and a healthy diet. Children require at least one hour of daily exercise and children between 5 to 12 years old require a minimum of 10 hours of sleep every night, according to the National Sleep Foundation. In addition, children with a healthy, balanced diet can keep children’s bodies healthy enough to fight any potential illnesses.

Lastly, hand-washing is key to keep germs away! The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say a good rule of thumb for kids is to sing the “Happy Birthday” song twice while washing your hands with soap. Hand sanitizers are also great for quickly eliminating germs in the classroom.

By keeping your children’s immune systems strong, their bodies will be able to fight off any minor colds or illnesses that they could catch when back in the classroom. However, if faced with a more serious illness be sure to get immediate medical attention.
